Undoubtedly a Remarkable Action Film

A top-rank film in its genre. Amazing action sequences and first-rate production values. Simply a great action film with a couple of sobering moments, the hallmark of an unforgettable action flick.
The locations are excellent, too. Much of the film takes place in Donauplatte near the famous Danube River. The action scenes in a high-rise building in this area are incredible. The producers (among them, Chris Hemsworth, himself) didn't spare anything to make the scenes incredibly realistic--such death, destruction and mayhem in just one locale.

Every once in a while, you come across a movie like "Extraction" that not only exceeds your expectations, but takes you on a satisfying, heart-pounding thrill-ride. Then you hope they make a sequel. Then you are elated to discover that a sequel has been greenlit and put into production. Then there is the apprehension on whether or not it will live up to the expectations of the predecessor. Then, "Extraction 2" is released, and let me assure you that any doubts or fears of whether this sequel can hold a candle to the original are quickly extinguished. This action-packed, high-octane follow-up not only reaches the heights of the original, it blows it out of the water.

Extraction is awesome. Extraction 2 is more awesome. I could feel it immediately. The story, characters and villain are all a step up. It's intense and suspenseful throughout.
But of course, we're here for the action. And just like the rest of the movie, it jumps a level. It's just as clear and well-shot as in the original. But it's more creative, bigger and harder. It has one of the coolest, longest and most impressive simulated one-takes I've ever seen. I was mesmerized.
The only criticism I have is that it's anticlimactic. The best action scene happens early, second best happens in the middle, and the last action scene is the smallest (but still good). Other than that, I loved this movie.

📖 Storyline

The movie starts with Tyler who is clinically dead is found by a small girl on the side of the river. He is immediately rushed to the hospital with Nik and Yaz aiding him. Meanwhile, Zurab's brother's sentence in jail is extended by 10 years. Zurab kills the officer who extended the sentence. Davit, Zurab's brother, has also imprisoned his wife and their 2 children with him in jail. After recovering, Tyler retires from his job and lives at his house until one day he sees another car in front of his house. An unnamed stranger offers him a job. Tyler initially refuses but then accepts it after the stranger tells him that his wife wants the job done. Tyler's ex-wife's sister Ketevan is actually Davit's wife, and Mia wants her out of prison. Tyler, along with Nik and Yaz, plans a breakout. He successfully reaches them, but while escaping, a prisoner sees them and informs everyone. A riot breaks out throughout the prison. Tyler successfully makes his way through it and saves the children but is attacked by Davit. He brutally wounds Davit and finally kills him. Tyler, Nik, and Yaz, along with Ketevan and the children, escape from the prison but are ambushed by Zurab's men. Tyler, Nik, and Yaz eliminate all of them and finally escape by boat. Sandro, Ketevan's son, comes to know the truth about his father's death and secretly tells Zurab their location. Zurab, with all his force, ambushes them. Sandro runs away to Zurab, and a chase ensues throughout the hotel for Ketevan and Tyler. Tyler, Nik, and Yaz manage to eliminate his army, but Yaz is shot by Zurab and succumbs to death while on the plane. They all finally return to Tyler's cabin. Tyler apologizes to Mia for leaving on a mission before their son died from cancer. Zurab contacts Tyler, telling him to meet at a nearby airfield where he is holding Sandro hostage. After assaulting the airfield, Tyler finds Zurab and Sandro in a nearby church, with Sandro wearing an explosive vest. Zurab forces Sandro to take Tyler's pistol and take aim at him, but Nik arrives, which leads to a standoff. Getting Sandro away, the three shoot at each other; Tyler fights and kills Zurab, but Nik is left seriously wounded and falls unconscious as police swarm the church. In the aftermath, Nik and Tyler are imprisoned, and Mia informs Tyler that Ketevan and her children have been moved to protective custody. She also informs him that all their assets have been frozen, to which Tyler asks Mia to give Ketevan 1 million dollars in cash, which he has hidden in his cabin. Mia tells Tyler that his son actually wanted to be brave like him, and she bids Tyler farewell. Tyler is transported out of prison to meet with the stranger, who offers to recruit him. However, Tyler says that he cannot accept his offer without Nik, only to find that he had already brought in Nik because he knew that Tyler would want her.
